MINISTRY BIBLE VERSE: “…But you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs.” Deut. 15:8 NKJV
The Open Hand is a social work ministry. Its holistic aim is to tend to the social, emotional, psychological, physical, ecological and spiritual needs of the members of Shiloh and the community at large. In its third year of service, the ministry continues to spread its personal network of social and public health services through our Annual Social Services Networking Symposium.
The purpose of the Symposium is to enhance relationships with social service and public health organizations in an effort to better meet the needs stated in our mission. We seek to expose our church and community members to helpful services throughout the city, county, and state, while building a network unlike any common directory…one that is very personal and will produce greater responses. In addition to networking, the Symposium features a panel discussion focused on critical social issues led by experts in the field. We believe the Church has a responsibility in addressing these issues and refuse to shy away from such. Some of the most recent topics include: Homelessness and Housing and Suicide.
The next unveiled phase of the ministry will include personal coaching and “limited” case management.
